PAGES 27 - 37

 

THOR picks up a pen from the table and writes a message on a side column of a takeaway menu which is also on the table. It says “Gone to Asgard”. He places the menu leaning against a vase of flowers on the table. THOR and SIF walk towards the kitchen and leave through the back door.

CUT TO:

EXT - JANE'S BACK GARDEN

SIF

Heimdall. Now.

HEIMDALL opens up the portal, THOR takes hold

of SIF and they leave via the portal. JANE walks

through the back door just as they fly up.

JANE

(She is holding the takeaway menu) Thor?! (To herself)

Well, I suppose at least this time he told where

he was going …

JANE goes back in the house.

CUT TO:

EXT – A BACKYARD OF A BAR IN NEW JERSEY,

THE EARLY 70's, NIGHT

A portal opens up in a wall in a dark alleyway behind a bar on the wall of a neighbouring building. LOKI comes out of the portal. It closes immediately behind him. He has a look around and looks confused. He's gone back in time.

Two girls stumble out of the back door of the bar. They're giggling, wearing the skimpiest miniskirts, boobtube tops and platform shoes.

GIRL 1

(to LOKI) Hey! Have you got a light?

LOKI

A light?

GIRL 2

Yeah man! To light these … (Shows him two spliffs)

LOKI

A light?

GIRL 2

Yeah! What are you deaf or something?

LOKI

Will this suffice?

LOKI conjures a small blue fireball on his palm and

leaves it hanging in the air in front of the girls.

LOKI walks towards the back door of the bar and goes in.

The GIRLS stand there stunned. The fireball

crackles for a bit and fizzles out.

CUT TO:

INT – A SMOKY BAR, 70’S

LOKI enters the bar. “Sympathy For The Devil” by The Rolling Stones has just started playing, we hear the opening lines. The bar is half full, about 15 people sit at various booths and tables. It is very smoky, the smoke irritates LOKI and he wafts it away from his face. The other patrons look at him for a bit but carry on normally. CAMEOS: STAN LEE, MICK JAGGER and KEITH RICHARD sit in one of the booths. A WAITRESS carrying a tray full of drinks notices LOKI looking confused and approaches him.

WAITRESS

Hey. Are you OK?

LOKI

Where is this?

WAITRESS

Where … What do you mean where is this? (Laughs)

Having a good trip, eh man? Going to a fancy dress party?

The WAITRESS touches LOKI'S armour on his sleeve.

WAITRESS (cond.)

Oh, that's quite cool actually …

The WAITRESS walks off leaving LOKI standing there baffled. 
He has a quick look around and walks over to the bar. 
The barman is wiping the bar.

BARMAN

Hey man! What can I get you?

LOKI

Where is this?

BARMAN

What do you mean, where is this?

LOKI

This! Where is this?

BARMAN

Are you high?

LOKI

No, I believe we are at sea level.

I simply wish to know where we are.

BARMAN

Sea level … ? What the … We're in a

bar in Galloway, New Jersey.

LOKI

New Jersey … in Midgard?

BARMAN

Mid … where?

LOKI

Oh! (Exasperated) Tell me - is everybody

here a complete dolt?

BARMAN

A what?

LOKI walks to the front door and goes out.

CUT TO:

EXT – THE STREET OUTSIDE THE BAR

LOKI comes out of the front door of the bar, stops and stands on the edge of the pavement. The street's busy with people milling about, cars driving past. A few prostitutes hang near by.

LOKI

(Calls out towards the sky)

Heimdall? (No answer) Heimdall? (No answer)

A PROSTITUTE walks over to LOKI.

PROSTITUTE

Are you looking for a good time, honey?

LOKI

No. I am looking for a atmospheric perpetuity

tract to mend a disturbance in the

nexus portals space time continuum.

PROSTITUTE

Well ... I don't have a one of those but

I do happen to give the best -

LOKI

No, thank you. Excuse me.

The PROSTITUTE stands there looking confused. LOKI spots a New Age type shop on the other side of the street and walks over there dodging the traffic. The shop is shut. He moves his hand over the door handle and the lock opens. He goes into the shop.

CUT TO:

INT – A NEW AGE SHOP

LOKI walks in and closes the door behind him. There are several lava lamps on various surfaces. LOKI picks up one of them and looks at it closely not quite knowing what to make of it.

All of sudden the back door of the shop flies open. An old WOMAN stands there pointing a shotgun towards Loki.

WOMAN

Freeze! Put down the lamp!

LOKI puts the lamp down on a table and

starts to walk towards the woman.

WOMAN

I said freeze!

LOKI

Trust me, you don't want me to freeze.

LOKI turns his hand blue

WOMAN

Who are you?! What the hell

is that on your hand?!

LOKI turns his hand back to normal.

LOKI

I am Loki of Asgard.

WOMAN

What?! Don't be ridiculous!

LOKI

I assure I am being quite serious.

The WOMAN lowers the shotgun and leans it against a bookshelf next to the back door. She runs her hand over books on a shelf and finds

a book. She takes it off the shelf, places it on a nearby table, flicks it open on a page about the Asgardians and Loki and holds it up towards him pointing to a drawn picture of Loki.

WOMAN

You're telling me you're him?

LOKI

Yes.

WOMAN

No, you can't be – this … this shit ain't real.

LOKI

Yet here I am.

She closes the book and puts in it on the table.

She approaches LOKI and touches his arm.

WOMAN (cond.)

Wow. Not an illusion. Well … what are you doing here?

LOKI

I need assistance to get back to where I came from.

WOMAN

I thought you’re able to do whatever you want …

what do you need help for?

LOKI

My, oh my. You ask a lot of questions, don't you?

WOMAN

Well, it's not everyday I have a god standing in my shop!

LOKI

What year is this?

WOMAN

1973.

LOKI

It seems the timeline has been distorted ...

I need to get back to the year 2014. Earth calendar.

WOMAN

Get out!!! 2014!? Jeez! You've travelled back in time?

LOKI

Accidentally, yes.

WOMAN

So the earth is still around? Haven't been nuked?

LOKI

Nuked?

WOMAN

You know … kaboom! (Makes a sound and

gesture like a bomb going off)

LOKI

No. Now, if you don't mind?

LOKI starts to look around the shop.

WOMAN

Knock yourself out. You know … I sell this stuff every day and

never think any of it is actually real ... (Takes out

cigarettes from her cardigan pocket and lights one) You want one?

(Offers LOKI a cigarette, he ignores her offer)

LOKI

Oh, I assure you it's quite real.

LOKI spots a box of runes on a shelf and picks them up.

LOKI (cond.)

Ah! This should do it.

WOMAN

Runes? You're gonna use runes?

LOKI

Yes.

WOMAN

Wow! You can travel through time with … runes?

LOKI

Well … I can, yes.

LOKI kneels down, takes some runes out of the box, lays

them on the floor and re-arranges them in a circular

shape. He moves his hand over them and the pattern in each

piece unites with the next one forming a solid line.

A portal opens up in the floor.

LOKI

Thank you Madam, you've been most helpful.

WOMAN

No problem. Hey, any tips about the future?

LOKI

Yes. Do not go into New York city in the spring of 2013.

LOKI jumps into the portal, it closes behind him.

The runes on the floor return to their original state.

The WOMAN picks up one of the runes and looks at it closely.

WOMAN

(To herself) Oh man! Nobody is going

to believe this! Why didn't I take

a photo of him? Damn!

CUT TO:

EXT - A BALCONY OF LOUHI’S PALACE IN POHJOLA

LOUHI stands on a balcony. Her pet LYNX stands next to her. NEITO approaches LOUHI. She is in full battle gear. She has multiple weapons and a shield.

NEITO

Mother. We are ready.

LOUHI takes NEITO by her hand and squeezes it. NEITO smiles and leaves. LOUHI lifts her arms up and spreads them. She points into the distance with her palms upright. The clouds above start to turn dark and form a storm. There are massive rumbles of thunder and lightning.

CUT TO:

EXT - AN OVERVIEW OF ASGARD

A massive storm approaches Asgard. It’s snowing, hailing and thundering.

CUT TO:

EXT - THE ASGARDIAN PALACE GROUNDS

FANDRAL, VOLSTAGG AND HOGUN plus a group (5 or so) of Asgardian soldiers come out of the palace doors. They’ve heard the thunder and wind and have come outside to see what is going on. They see the approaching storm, it’s gathering pace. In no time it is above them, it is hailing so hard they have to go back inside. They just about manage to close the palace doors because the wind is so strong. The hail turns into snow, it’s still thundering. The camera pulls back into the sky, an overview of Asgard, all of it covered in snow and ice.

CUT TO:

EXT - THE ASGARDIAN PALACE GROUNDS

NEITO and her troops have arrived in Asgard using the storm as a cover to take them by surprise. They’ve taken over the palace. There's been an almighty battle, the palace and the grounds are full of debris, smoke is pillowing out from various piles of rubble.
